The Abraham collection, consisting of approximately 500 pages in Hebrew (occasionally interspersed with some Yiddish phrases), was written by Rabbi Zvi Ya’akov Abraham (1897-1974). This collection, which consists Hasidic teachings, stories, and wonder-tales about the conduct of the Tsadikim, is based on interviews and field research that Rabbi Abraham conducted among Hasidim, rebbes, and rabbis during the years 1949-1951. The collection is particularly rich with stories and teachings from the rebbes of Belz, Sanz, Shineve, and Ger. It also contains tales and teachings from the Besht, his early disciples, and later Hasidic masters such as R. Levi Yitzchak of Berditchev, R. Menachem Mendel of Kotzk, R. Yisrael of Ruzin, R. Meir of Premishlan and others.
