Yehudah DovBer Zirkind is a senior research fellow at the Herzog College for the Research of Hasidism and the David Cardozo Academy in Jerusalem. In addition, he is a graduate student of Yiddish literature at Tel Aviv University and a researcher and lecturer on a wide range of topics in Jewish studies. His research interests include: Jewish thought, Hasidism, Yiddish and Hebrew literature, Yiddish music and folklore, and Judaic bibliography.
Late Hasidism was perceived and presented in research as a movement of institutionalization and entrenchment that lost the initial Hasidic renaissance, and even degenerated. Recently there have been changes in research and more complex methods and approaches have been introduced that find characteristics unique to late Hasidim.
