When the Shpitivker Rav, R. Ya’akov Shimshon heard that the Noda be-Yehuda threw the [Sefer] Toldos Ya’akov Yosef on the floor, he decided to travel all the way to Prague to visit the Noda be-Yehuda. He was afraid that if the great man of his age had a negative attitude toward Chasidus, a tragedy would occur, God forbid, and the Chasidic movement would not be able to endure it.
So he traveled to Prague and stayed with the Noda be-Yehuda. On Shabbos, he held such a deep and learned sermon in the synagogue that the Noda be-Yehuda was astounded at the genius of a Chasidic Rav. At that point, he raised the [sefer of the] Toldos that he threw into a corner. Although he never became a Chasid, in his later years he did not evince a hatred toward Chasidus.
